Screen Print vs Heat Transfer vs Embroidery: Which Logo Method Fits Your Bags?

Choose screen printing for bold, low-cost logos in 1–3 spot colors on most woven and canvas bags. Choose heat transfer when you need full-color or photographic detail. Choose embroidery when a premium, textured look matters more than cost per unit. Most custom programs combine two methods — for example a screen-printed front and an embroidered patch.

As a factory we run all four common methods in-house: silk screen, heat transfer, embroidery and digital printing. Here is how they compare for eco bag projects.

What drives the choice in practice

  • Artwork complexity: clean two-color logo → screen print; gradients or photos → heat transfer.
  • Order quantity: screen print setup amortizes best from a few hundred pieces upward.
  • Bag material: coarser jute shows fine detail poorly — bold shapes or embroidered patches read better.
  • Brand position: a monochrome embroidered logo signals premium; a bright screen print maximizes visibility at events.

Frequently asked questions

Can you print on both sides? Yes — most bags take a front and back print; we quote each position separately so you can compare.

Do I get to approve the artwork before production? Yes. Free digital mockups are provided, and custom samples are typically ready in 7–10 days.

What is the minimum order? Standard custom orders start at 500 pieces; canvas totes typically start at 300–500 pieces.

Which method is most durable? Embroidery is the most abrasion-resistant; screen print is next. Heat transfer is ideal for detail but should be tested on very coarse fabrics.
